Dr. Bandy X. Lee is a world-renowned forensic and social psychiatrist and one of the most internationally recognized experts on violence and mental health in the United States. With more than 30 years of academic and clinical experience, Dr. Lee has dedicated her career to ensuring that objective medical standards and empirical evidence — not bias, not financial incentive — determine the futures of children and families.
As an expert witness in more than 250 court cases — spanning family, civil, and criminal matters — across more than 30 states, Dr. Lee has witnessed firsthand the devastating consequences of unscientific forensic evaluations on families and children. She has described family court failures as one of the least recognized public health emergencies in the United States — a crisis that demands urgent national action, rigorous standards, and accountability.
Dr. Lee is the President of the World Mental Health Coalition and co-founder of Preventing Violence Now — organizations dedicated to advancing public mental health and preventing societal violence through research, education, and policy reform. She was the organizer of the landmark National Family Court Conference at the Washington Press Room, Washington D.C. — bringing together state legislators, legal experts, medical professionals, and families from across the country to advance a national dialogue on scientific rigor and evidence-based standards in family court.
